How long have you worked for DoubleDave’s?

One year.

What’s your position title?

In-store trainer.

What’s your favorite DoubleDave’s product?

Chocolate Chip Cookie Pizza.

Ranch or red sauce?

Warm red sauce.

Favorite Pizza of the Month so far?

Loaded Baked Potato.

Best experience with a customer?

This is a hard one because many of the regular customers that come in have left me with a great experience. Every Sunday this older couple comes in and they are super sweet. One Sunday the husband had mentioned that we will be seeing each other often, due to them coming in often, and asked for my name. We introduced ourselves and he then asked if I was in school, when I told him I was and what I was majoring in we had a long conversation about my degree. A couple months later he mentions to me that he saw a post on Facebook saying that the medical students got their “red letters” to which program they got into and he asked if I received mine. I told him that I wasn’t majoring in medicine but that I appreciated him remembering that I was studying at the Health Science Center. That day I left happy because this sweet old man remembered a conversation we had a couple months back. I love when people remember the little things. Many of my favorite experiences are when the customers and I can have enjoyable conversations while getting to know them better.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Hopefully finishing up school and starting my Clinical Fellowship year while probably enjoying some Peproni Rolls every week or so.

What is your favorite part about working for DoubleDave’s?

My coworkers definitely help me have an enjoyable time while working because we can all joke around but also get stuff done. I also love that I can rely on my coworkers to help me out when I need it and that we all have each other’s’ backs. The experiences that I get from DoubleDave’s is great too; it helps build character.

What advice would you give to new employees?

A lot of information is going to be thrown at you and you might not remember it all, that’s okay! It’s always okay to ask for help; these people around you are fast but they will take time to help you learn how to do it. Give it a couple months and then you’re going to be a pretty good pizza maker!

What are you going to college for?

Speech Language Pathology. I’ve not decided on if I want to work with pediatrics or adults, but I hope to help give people a voice and help stroke survivors. I’m in NSSLHA which is the National Student Speech-Language Hearing Association. The program hosts a lot of fun activities we can be a part of, one night we had a multicultural night. On this night, everyone brought a dish and after we ate we all participated in learning a few dances from around the world. Another night we had chili bowl night, where the program director made chili for us and all the students in the program were able to chit-chat. A lot of the classes I’ve taken thus far are basic classes, but since I’ll be a senior this year I will be doing more hands-on tasks.

If Hollywood made a movie about your life, who would you like to see cast as you?

One time a customer told me I looked like Jessica Biel, she’s gorgeous so I appreciate the compliment… but I feel Emilia Clarke would represent me better because in a lot of her roles she is funny and a bit awkward and geeky. That is definitely me.

What did you want to be when growing up?

A teacher. I’ve always loved the idea of helping future generations, but I realized being in a room with 20 or more kids at one time is a bit too much. Usually group therapy isn’t that big, so I like that aspect of Speech Pathology.

What do you like to do on your days off?

During the school semester my days off are when I’m in school but in the summer my days off consist of catching up on errands, relaxing, and going to the movies.

What is the first thing you would buy if you won the lottery?

I would travel; I have a list of places to travel so that would be the first thing I do is knock all those places off my list.

Do you have any pets?

Yes, I have a lab, a shih tzu, and a chihuahua.

What color Crayon would you be and why?

Teal, it’s a mix between blue and green. Some people see more green and some see more blue I think it’s pretty good to be a mix of things in life.

What’s the best vacation you’ve taken?

My junior year of high school I went with the band to Ireland; we participated in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. The best part was right before we started marching a whole bunch of the other bands that were around us started talking to us and we got to take so many pictures. So many people from around the world came to visit. On the way to the parade a lot of the tourists passed the sidewalk where we were, so they took a bunch of pictures with us. I remember talking with a group from Germany and Sweden that did the St. Patrick’s Day Parade yearly. I loved it because there was so much nature around us, in Lubbock it’s only dirt. I liked being able to visit a bunch of castles and Churches.

What is your favorite thing to do in Lubbock?

Personally, I don’t think there’s that much to do in Lubbock, but I have also been here my whole life. I like to grab dinner and head to the movies with my friends, it’s simple but we can joke around and talk about the movie afterwards.

What’s the first concert you went to?

I don’t think I have ever been to a concert. If I did I was probably young and don’t remember, and it probably would have been some country concert. I participated in a lot of concerts in middle school when I played the flute, does that count?

Where are you from?

Lubbock.

Anything else you want to add?

I don’t think so… Thank you for this opportunity!
